Consumer Concerns (WP12.2)

Please note: EADGENE Partners can access more information by logging in to the Intranet (click here)

It is essential that the consumer is a fully recognised stakeholder and that its concerns are taken into account in the Network research activities to improve the food quality and safety.
The EADGENE Network facilitates the trans-national consumer dialogue, to enable people from different European cultures, generations and social backgrounds to exchange their viewpoints. Futhermore, general public was consulted on all aspects of food safety and their expectations as to the food quality and safety.

WP Objectives:

  • To assess the nature and magnitude of consumer concerns with animal genomics within a cross-section of EU member states and their information needs
  • To assess the impact on choice of animal-based food products
  • To suggest some key research methods to be used when addressing the consumer concerns about animal genomics

WP Achievements:

  • A first evaluation of public concerns and requests

WP Leader:  Arouna Ouedroago (INRA, France)

Partners involved:

Institute National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA), France
European Forum of Farm Animal Breeders (EFFAB), NL
